9 weeks old

I can't believe Lucy is 9 weeks old today. On Friday we have to go for her 2 month shots... definitely not looking forward to that. Some things Daddy and I have discovered about our darling daughter over the last few weeks might weird you out. But, then again, you know us, so this is probably all normal...

1.) She laughs at ceiling fans - pure entertainment.
2.) The "free-credit-report.com" commercials make her start to dance.
3.) Her favorite song is Kokomo by the Beach Boys
4.) She loves Joey on friends (and daddy aspires to be Joey)
5.) It takes her literally 30-45 minutes to make a stink - and she likes her private time. We have started giving her books and leaving her alone

Here are some pictures from the past few weeks. I realize I am heinously bad at updating this blog... Amanda puts me to shame. But, I will get better - when I learn how to balance time and life.
Daddy trying to be Bill Cosby (episode where he babysits the twins and wants to know what they are looking at).

Father's Day weekend - too cute family bonding

Ruth,Sherri, Grandma, Lucy and me at La Madeleine's - my favorite!

Sitting up - assisted of course! She really like this, until she squished down and looked like no-neck-girl

I miss sleep!

I shouldn't really be complaining, because Lucy only wakes up 1 time during the night... and 2 night she has slept all the way until 6! But, I am a light sleeper, so I keep going in to check on her. Hubby can sleep through a train wreck, but he normally feels me get out of bed, and when I am gone a long time he knows to get up and help me. Last night, so such luck on that. 5 am and feeding the darling by myself. I like having someone to talk to at the night feed because it helps me stay awake. He felt so bad that he slept through it. That is his bonding time with dear daughter.

I think I took for granted all those days of old when I could sleep in until noon. My dream right now would be to go to sleep in a big, fluffy, soft bed at 8pm and not wake until the following day at 10am - all refreshed and ready to go. Then have a leisurely cup of coffee (or 3), and not have to run to get dressed before the child wakes up. Ahh, bliss.

What happened to the dreams of being rich and famous? I think my selfish priorities are all screwy now!

Maybe getting back to normal? Knock on Wood!

Beginning of the week: "Lamby, I don't feel well!"

On to today - much better! Lucy's mood improved majorly and naps actually happened today. Granted, they were interrupted by needing diaper changes, paci fixes, or Mommy to re-swaddle and rock, but they happened none-the-less. Praise Jesus, I actually felt somewhat human today!

Grandma Charlotte had the other grandkids spending the night at the farm tonight, so we decided to join in for some of the festivities. No, Lucy did not participate in the chores (she is a lady!), but did have fun playing with Emma. She looked so healthy and happy - I think I am slowly getting my baby girl back. Cross fingers, please... it might have just been a good afternoon.

The video is Emma singing to Lucy. This lasted a good 10 minutes of happy baby... that is, happy until I jinxed it. Note how I say "Emma, don't drop the rattle on Lucy...." yep, goodbye happy baby, hello traumatized by said rattle. Oh well, accidents happen. It was good while it lasted!

Helpless!

Oh my god I am feeling so helpless. I am crying all the time the past two days b/c I can't figure Lucy out! She is waking up screaming in pain - I kept thinking it was nightmares before, but now I am pretty sure it is the reflux. I am at my wits end.... I want my happy baby girl back. I feel like this all came crashing down out of nowhere. She used to nap 1.5 hours in the morning, and 2.5 in the afternoon. Now I am lucky for 30 minutes. I know she is so tired, but I don't know what to do. Do you think it could be a part of the 6 week growth spurt? I thought at a growth spurt they were supposed to sleep more! I can't getting anything done b/c all she wants to do is be held right now. I know it will pass, but could someone help me until then?

Feeling Yucky!

My poor baby girl has been exhibiting strange behavior lately, and thanks to my sister, I was able to figure out the source of the problem. Lucy has "silent" reflux. Basically, when she eats, it comes back up and then back down again, causing tons of acid to flare up and burn. She has been getting really bad gas pains lately, and screaming in pain while arching her back and curling up her legs. She has also been sleeping very restlessly, has bad breath, and hiccuping non-stop - all which are signs of reflux. After talking with a nurse at the pediatrician's office, Lucy now takes Axid 2 times a day to soothe the acid. She has also switched formulas, and has to be elevated for 30 minutes after each feeding. We are trying everything we can to make her feel better! It has only been a day, and maybe my eyes deceive me, but I think she is making improvements. She slept better last night (we tilted the mattress) and seems to be a little bit happier. She hasn't been a happy baby lately - her temperment totally changed from when she was born, and that saddens me. I just want my happy, healthy baby girl back!

If anyone knows of anything we haven't tried to fix this reflux, let me know. We want her better asap!

Just shy of 6 weeks

At least one person in the household can relax...

I have learned many things over the past (almost) 6 weeks with my darling daughter. The highlights include:

* Don't bother getting dressed in cute clothes b/c it is inevitable that they will become drenched in spit-up. The stench is so-quite-lovely... (this goes for mother and child)

* Hot lunches are a thing of the past. Who are we kidding? LUNCH itself is a thing of the past.

* Daddies should not have chest hair because daughters will grab at it.

* Apparently Drew Carey and The Price is Right is the funniest thing ever to a newborn.

* Every day is laundry day.

* I thought hubby made the weirdest noises in his sleep... that was until Lucy came along. Now I see where she gets it.

* Everything is better in song.

* My daughter loves the freecreditreport.com commercials just like mommy.

* Sleep should be a 4-letter word...

It has been a trying and tiring 6 weeks, but I wouldn't change them for anything. What started out as a 8lb angel, is now a 10lb precious porker that makes her Mommy and Daddy melt. She is cute, and boy does she know it. Especially when she saw her pictures on the screensaver, and for the first time, Mommy and Daddy saw her first real smile and coo! Oh good grief, the hellian is about to come out! Look how long I am already! I definitely did not inherit height from my mommy!

But I definitely got my silliness from my Daddy - I mean, just look at him!

just some cute pictures of lucy

Julie sent me 2 cute pictures of Lucy, and I thought I would share them quickly... I will post more pictures later when Amanda, John, and the girls get here.
