Righty Tighty, Lefty... Handed???

Today I let Lucy feed herself applesauce. Thinking this was going to be a messy endeavor, we strapped on the bib, held our breath, and let her go. Surprisingly, she knew exactly was to do and the mess was minimal. Granted, she did eventually end up using her hands to eat, she made several precise moves with said spoon -- all of which happened with the left hand. This could have just been because the milk was strong-fisted in the right, but I do think we have a future lefty. Daddy and Aunt Julie are proud, I am sure.

Here are some pictures of Lucy with her first chocolate chip cookie. I should have known better. Look at the couch. Geesh, and it was totally a tiny cookie!

now for the spoon....
See? She really did do it... unlike the video leads one to believe.

Splish Splash but not in the Bath

Lucy has tested out a variety of swimming pools over her summer vacation. First was in the hotel on our way to Wisconsin.... that did not go over well.

Then there was swimming at Grandpa Tom and Grandma Jackie's house in Dallas. Definitely a much better time was had by all.

Then we decided to purchase this amazing pool, complete with an elephant slide. It took Mommy and Daddy forever to blow it up, but when it was finished, Lucy couldn't wait to get in it... in the living room.

After this picture, we moved it out to the deck, went to a tee-ball game, and came back to see the pool meet its maker. Back to Target it goes.

So, pool # 2 = less expensive, less bells-and-whistles, but even more loved. It does have a spout, though, which is pretty amazing!
So Daddy and Lucy tested it out to much smiles and overall happiness. Don't you want a tan just like Cody's?

Then Sabrina and Sam came over for a swim, and Lucy quickly learned to fend for herself... and how to go underwater (whoops! She bounced back quickly, though!)
For your viewing pleasure - swim time at the Klement's.

Happy Birthday America!

Happy 4th of July!

What a fun day at Aunt Tina and Uncle Kenneth's house. Maybe next year I will be able to stay up and enjoy the fireworks!

This better not be a foreshadowing of the future, little missy!

Picture Catch Up

Moments in Lucy Land

Helping Mommy cook.
Mac-n-Cheese at Grandma Jackie's house....

Something tells me she liked it. Doesn't she look like Sammy as a baby here?

She loves Aunt Karen and Samantha. Happy pregnancy Karen - can't wait for the new baby to come January 2011!!

Playing with super new friend (and soon to be big sister) Samantha at Border's Books and Music.

Summer Fun

We are back from Wisconsin and full into summer mode... which means right when we got back, Lucy started showing off for, well, me. Figures. Lucy did amazingly well on the road, and despite a tiny virus, was a perfect angel with the relatives. Now we are well into our daily routine of walking (mom taking on walks, she's not even crawling for real), reading, playing, and hanging out with friends. I love summer!
Happy to be starting the long car ride to Wisconsin!

Roadside parks are fun.
Playing peek-a-book with my bunny book from Grandma.
Swimming scares me, despite having my invincible Elmo suit.Playing with a block at The Building for Kids in Appleton - definitely a cool place, just not quite young enough for Lucy to enjoy (or us to get our $10 worth).
Just your average, random goat on a roof.

Daddy and Lucy in Door County.
Enjoying a sun break with Sabrina.

Daddy and Lucy in *cold* Lake Michigan.

Vacation is most definitely playtime!
On a cow a Simon's Cheese Factory.
I found her standing at the bookshelf Monday morning (the day after we got back). Show off.
But, her acrobatic skills didn't help her get stuck in a toy bin. She's practicing her diving here.

Being silly with a spoon.

At the farm with a new baby goat... look at the difference one year makes here.Lucy loves animals, and I am fully convinced she will be a veterinarian when she grows up. She was overwhelmed with baby goats, Patches the farm dog, tons of baby kittens, chickens, cows, etc.
Here she is telling Grandma Charlotte all about it... with awesome new sunglasses, too (thanks, Grandma!).

Lucy's other new talent is singing. Watch out, Miley.

On the Road Again

I'm all ready to go to Wisconsin!

This is the best package ever!

Pray for us... roadtripping from Texas to Wisconsin with a 13 month old and her father, who acts like a 13 month old. Happy thoughts, people, happy thoughts!
